a new look

I can't believe October is almost over! In honor of that I thought I would change my blog look to savor these last few weeks of fall. I usually start decorating for Christmas the middle of November and creating a new look for my blog is kinda like re-decorating my house but its free! Hope you enjoy the look:)

Cleaning day!

After school today our Monday often turns into our weekly cleaning day. So today I made a list of what needed to be done and let the boys choose what things they would like to do. Of course there needed some supervision and perhaps I'll have to double check some things but for the most part, they're pretty good workers. We use Melaleuca products which I am thankful, especially on days like today. I don't have to worry about harmful chemicals my kids are breathing in or touching. Check out this website! http://www.saferforyourhome.com/
For a reward we will be heading out to Goodwill to finish up their costumes for Halloween. Reis is planning to be an "elderly" woman, Hudson- star wars character, Chapman- a bum off the street, Owen-spiderman, Davis has a giraffe costume but he cries when ever he sees it and shakes his head no.

Pumpkin Carving Contest

We were at the Lehman's house tonight with the Browns, Feenstra's, and the Cripes having a pumpkin carving contest. Don't you like ours? it looks great at night with a candle in it. It is a spooked pumpkin. Looking like he is afraid with his hands on his face. It was a lot of fun!
Here is the gang. That would be 10 adults and 17 kids! It was fun in a crazy kind of way! Thank you Tim and Ann for always opening up your home!

The YMCA

Today was a day of spelling tests, reviewing multiplication facts, reading about maps, latitude/longitude and the equator and prepostional phrases for Reis and Hudson. For Chapman is was a reading lesson, doing a story starter page, telling time on an "oldstyle" clock and reading a thermometer. Friday's tend to be a lighter day- were ready for the weekend:)

Here is a glimpse of the YMCA. The boys named our school last year and came up with a meaning. We are the Yoder Missionary Christian Academy. Hudson hopes to be a missionary some day, that is where that came from:) The joys of homeschooling- wearing pj's, drinking hot chocolate during math and sitting by a window on a beautiful day like today! Love it!

The Ultimate Artist

Even my family is getting into this blogging thing! I was gone last night and Scott and the boys went outside and took this awesome picture of the sky. They wanted me to post it for all of you. Isn't God incredible? It was truely a gift of beauty he gave us last night here in Northwestern Indiana.

Go Colts!

I am sure with girls you have dress up boxes with princess dresses and tiara's but with a house of boys, we have uniform collections! In preparing for the Colts game tonight, Chapman and Owen came out of their bedrooms this afternoon looking like this. Then went outside for a quick game of football. It started sprinkling and when I called them inside, Owen said...."but mom, real football players play in the rain". :) too cute

Jack and the boys

Meet my cousin Jack! He came for a visit this weekend. We are 3 weeks apart. We had fun chasing each other, playing cars and jumping (walking) on the trampoline.

Friom the sidelines

It stinks to be the youngest sometimes! His brothers are wrestling in the trampoline and don't really want him to get smooshed, so he was watching from the window.

Davis is Talking

Today I actually got Davis to sit long enough to talk to the camera. He loves pointing out everyone's eyes and nose. Which can hurt at times:) Sorry this video came out a little dark. You'll get the idea!

View from the front porch

This is taken from my front window in our laundry room of a beautiful wooded lot across the street. I mentioned to Scott today, "I hope the house that is built there someday is as pretty as that scene!" I thought I would share it with you!

Fall

Are you enjoying fall as much as I am? I love the spice scented candles, tiny pumpkins and colored leaves that are spread throughout my home.

At the Yoder firepit

Tonight we had the family over for dinner and later had a campfire. Here is Brandon with his little guy Braylon and our 4. Also pictured is Zuleka who is living with mom and dad for the year. She is from the D.R.

Corn Box

Wrestling in the Big Corn Box

It was like one big wrestling arena! As you can imagine it was pretty fun to watch. And yes, we came home with our own collection of corn!
Push PLAY!

Welcome

Hello from the boys!

Welcome to the Yoder family blog! We are so excited to be able to share with you how fun and exciting it is to be a Yoder boy!
Have you ever seen a "corn box"? The boys loved it! This is at a local pumpkin patch and corn maze we went to recently. We'd love to hear from you! Click on Comments to leave us one!
