December

Our December has been filled with a lot of different fun events. Here is our annual gingerbread house. For the past several years, we've done it with our home school group but this year we made them with some friends. We made 2 in which one collapsed soon after we decorated it.

The 3 boys and I attended the Nutcracker in South Bend. The boys enjoyed the first half anyway...not really their thing.
Davis turned to a friend and said half way through "I never should have come to this!".

More home improvements. Below is our bedroom after we painted and the carpet was installed on Thursday. I love the craftsman style trim work we copied from our previous house. I'm so happy with how its all coming together.

A lot of time has been spent painting trim, door jams and doors. We got a steal picking up these solid doors from a local warehouse.

Hudson had his first band concert. He is learning to play the trumpet this year. I can't believe how much he has improved since starting in August.

We hosted a dinner party for our elders and their wives. It was fun planning the menu and decorating the tables. Here is one of tables. We had a great time eating and playing games. We are so blessed to have them in our lives.

Oh Christmas Tree

Scott and I made an executive decision that we are not going to get a real Christmas tree as we have done the last couple of years. We just have too much going on with our addition and we decided to use our artificial for this year. One night this week we took time as a family to decorate it. I collect old Shiny Bright glass balls so it is annual tradition for me to sit on the floor and carefully pass out the balls and everyone else hang them. The boys did great this year, not one was dropped!! It has been fun decorating our new home this year.
I feel like my decor matches the house. Old stuff!

The finished project!

Winter in the city

Last week we went with friends to our favorite city...Chicago. We try to go up every year around this time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas. It was a perfect day, not too cold and not windy at all. That can make all the difference as to how enjoyable it is!

Public Transportation

Overall it was a wonderful day spent with wonderful friends.

(Taken from the Coast Guard ship parked on the dock. They were giving free tours that day!)

The house

Our house looks quite different now a days. Its fun to experience the different seasons in our new home. It snowed yesterday and it is beautiful I must say! Our big picture windows make it so bright and cheery. Its a little drafty but that comes with an old house. The boys have had fun exploring the property with snow on it.

We had carpet installed in the finished family room. The room is not quite done but its so nice to have a soft place to hang out.

Our bathroom vanity was installed yesterday as well. I absolutely love it. The cement counter tops come this week as well. Its all coming together!
