Christ is Risen

I am so excited for this Sunday, to come together as a church body and worship a Risen Savior! We have an incredible service planned celebrating Christ who has defeated death and sin. In return He offers us a LIFE in Him...for eternity. This month we have been singing a song by Matt Maher called Christ is Risen. Below are the lyrics to the chorus. Impossible

I don't know what seems more impossible, that Hudson is 13 today or that I am a mother of 2 teenagers! Wow! Time has flown. I know when they were babies people told me it would but I never quite believed them!

We didn't purchase a digital camera until 2002 so here is the earliest digital pic I have of Hudson. He was 4 here. He had spiked hair for a couple of years because it fit him so well. Hudson has always been such a blessing to our family. He is happy (most of the time) and I can count on him to be a helper when ever needed. It is definitely a gift he has. He works well with his hands and I know God will use that in a mighty way someday.

We have been so blessed here in our new community to have made great friends already. Hudson has 4 good buddies(the 5 amigos) from church. The do a lot together. I can see that God has BIG plans for this group of boys. They were excellent at our home over night. We laughed b/c we didn't even have to tell them to go to bed. They ended the night with a movie and lights out by midnight.

I'm almost finished with a book entitled "The age of Opportunity" by Paul Tripp. He is also the author of "Shepherding a Child's Heart"-a must read for every parent. It talks to parents of teens that instead of dreading these years and surviving until its over (for me that won't be for awhile), we should embrace them and see them as the years of opportunity for change in the heart of our teen. It really challenges parents to reveal in our own lives, idols of the heart that get in the way of seeing our teenager the way Christ sees them. If our hearts are controlled by idols other than God, we will not view parenting opportunities of the teen years as opportunities at all. Instead we see them as irritating hassles brought on by an incredibly self-centered person who is neither an adult or child. (an idea from the book, in my own words:) It has been a very convicting book as well as encouraging. It's only just begun for us here but we want to do our best at it!
