A Getaway

Scott and I were blessed enough to get away for about 24 hours this week...by ourselves. At the end of our season the Upward coaches and referee's collected $$ this year and gave us a gift certificate to the Essanhaus, a local Amish Restaurant and Inn. We spent the day in Shipshewana at the auction and shops then dinner and a very relaxing night at the Inn. It felt so good to be together and to sleep in...till 9:30 am! The boys were spread out all over with family and friends so of course they had a blast as well.

We are so thankful for the generous people we are surrounded with .

Unfortunately we were in the midst of 'April showers' so it was a pretty yucky 2 days. We didn't get to really enjoy the 'balcony room' we were given. Oh well, looking forward to the 'May flowers' it should bring:)

A productive day

I decided to look back over the last couple of weeks at pictures I took but never posted about. Here are some on a cleaning rampage I went on:) Love it when I'm inspired to do this! I usually get a lot done in a short amount of time.

Last week I decided to clean our bedroom... I mean REALLY clean it. I tore the bed apart and actually took the mattresses up and leaned them up against the wall and even vacuumed under the bed. It's been almost 2 years since we moved in and boy was it dusty! And I found some missing items as well.

Has it really been that long!

I can't believe my last post was just before Easter! It's been a busy month but not that busy!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. On Saturday we hosted an impromptu Easter egg hunt and cookout! We started planning the day before and ended up with over 30 people and kids. It included family, friends and neighbors. We had a great time together. On Sunday we worshipped with our church family and then went to Scott's brothers for more food than any of us needed:)

Journey to the farm

Scott and I took the boys away for a few days on our spring break. My sister-in-laws parents are so generous and invite us often to come stay on their property in the lodge Ray built a couple of years ago. It is truly a retreat when ever we go. Very relaxing.

One day we helped butcher 6 pigs...the boys helped by marking the meat with the date.

Our Hudson turns 11 today! Last night we had a big party for him with family and some friends. We had a house full! Close to 30 with 18 of them kids (mostly cousins).

My parents, Grandma C and Scott and I got him a new set of golf clubs. He was very surprised:)

He had quite a choir for singing Happy Birthday. We are so thankful for Hudson and who he has become. He is a very easy child to parent. He has a sensitve heart and is a very faithful friend. We pray for him as he grows up and for his heart, that he believes, has been called to missions one day.

Funny Boys

The boys and I have had quite a few laughs at Davis' expense these last couple of days. It seems that I see leaps at a time of learning and growing and maturing. Here's a couple of 'funnies' from Davis William...He had our home phone and punching buttons like crazy. I said, "Davis, you can't play with the phone like that" and took it away. He said, " Mom, I'm just texting somebody".

He often talks of his friends from church and who is his 'best friend'...After giving him a hug and telling him I loved him I asked, "Is mommy your best friend?" In which his reply was, "mommies and boys can't be best friends".

I told him he was wrong...Daddy is mommy's best friend!

My sister, Karla, is visiting my parents in the D.R. this week so we get to keep Jack for a few days. It's been going pretty well. It's hard not 'knowing' him and what he likes...I'm getting pretty good at guessing:) In December Jack was diagnosed to be on the Autism Spectrum, so if you think about it, pray for Jack...And for him mommy! She is one amazing mom with so much love and patience. He's hard NOT to love. He is such a cutie and funny personality!

Daffodils

My daffodils close to my house have bloomed. Actually it was about a week ago. Seems early to me, but they seem to be doing well.
