Camping Birthday Party

The camping hosts
In honor of Braylon's birthday, Brandon and Ashlee planned a weekend of camping with both sides of the family. We had a fun time eating and hanging out. Scott and I came home early b/c it rained off and on all day Saturday. I took advantage of the fact that we were together and had a small cake for Scott. Yesterday July 18th Scott turned 35! It was a hectic day so I hope he was able to relax a bit last night. Happy Birthday Honey! I love you more than words!

Kids playing and getting dirty!

For dinner we had Hobo Dinners. On foil you throw on ground meat (pork of course) diced potatoes, onions, carrots, mushrooms, salt and pepper, and cream of mushroom soup and wrap it up and throw it on the fire for 45 min. or so. It was really yummy!Hot dogs for the kids:)

2 Fun-filled Days

The gang at the beach in Chicago

Monday we took a mini get a way and went to Chicago to see Karla and go to the beach. It was a gorgeous day and you can't beat this view across the water! Yes, this is Scott and his son. They look nothing alike but I promise he's his father!

Monday was also Owen's 6th birthday. The reason we planned this trip was because the 3 boys entered a reading program that earned them a ticket to Six Flags Great America Amusement Park AND Hurricane Harbor Water Park and I got one for being their teacher. We had a coupon for buy one get one free so all we payed for was the $54 to get Scott in (yes, $54 !! I remember when it was $26 to get in) So on Tues. we went to SIX Flags for Owen's SIXth birthday. He thought that was pretty cool. Karla kept Davis for us so we could get around easier. We had a blast and after 12 hours, we were whipped:) Due to the fact that we were in and out of water, our camera was in a locker most of the day. Here are a few pictures of our day.

We rode roller coasters in the morning and evening and spent the afternoon in the water park. We thanked the Lord on our way home for a wonderful fun day. We are so thankful that he gives us so much more than we NEED:)

Good friends

Our friends Tim and Ann live on a nearby lake. They are the king and queen of entertaining. They host people several times a week throughout the summer. Every year they plan an "adults only" day to play. So on Saturday 3 of us couples farmed out our kiddoes and spent the day on Simonton Lake swimming, boating, tubing, skiing and of course eating:) The weather man called for up to 80% chance of rain but it turned out to be a perfect sunny day and not a drop of rain. I love when they are wrong in our favor! Here are a few pics of our tubing contest. I would say Jeff and Krista won most choreographed(they looked like synchronized swimmers on a tube), Tim and Ann- best balance and Matt and Lora most creative. I don't have a pic of Scott and I but we probably won for the most adventurous. We tried to do a flip on the moving tube and fell off several times:) Good times

Weeds?

Ok, so we were having freinds over for dinner last night and I felt like I needed flowers for my table. Being the thrifty person I am, I went across the street to the empty lot and cut some pretty weeds and made a center piece with them. I thought it turned out pretty cute.
I think you should try it!

Flower Garden

Still having fun with my flowers.

WOW!

Wow! It has been a while! I guess I am in summer mode, I have felt completely uninspired. Often times I think, I should blog something but .... nothing comes:) Family camp was a blast. We had gorgeous weather, sunny and mid 70's. I didn't find any spiders in my bed. Everyone slept great. We had lots of laughs and built some new relationships with other families. Unfortunately I do not have access to the pictures that were taken, other wise I would post some. It was fun to see how God brought most of the families back from last year and new ones this year and even more that want to come next year!

Family Camp

Wednesday morning we head off to Family Camp with 13 other families from our church. I will post about our time when we return. Have a wonderful 4th of July. Thank you Lord for our Free country we live in!

Goofy Boy

Davis is having a great summer playing outside and swimming in his little pool. We fill it up with hot water from our hot water hose in the garage, the neighbors call it his "hot tub". He loves it.

Flowers are still blooming

I am still enjoying all my transplants. Everything is growing great and my flowers from seeds are very close to blooming. Here is a "balloon flower" from my good friend Lora. She has an adorable house in Goshen that looks like its right out of Martha Stewart's magazine. She was gracious enough to share many of her perennials with me. Thank you Lora!

Baseball

We finished up our baseball season. Reis and Hudson finished with 8 wins and 3 losses. They went all the way to the championship game and lost 6-8. It was tough game. They all did great and improved so much. Here is Hudson batting and Reis pitching.

Chapman also had a great season but I can't find where Scott saved the pictures of his games. He is a very serious ball player and loves to win:) He doesn't get that from me, that's for sure:)
