Day 7

Here is our LONG day in DC. Davis was quite a trooper for the day. Everyone was actually! It rained off and on and we think we walked about 4 miles:) We saw so much, it is hard to sum it up. We saw the monuments, visited the National Archives (constitution and declaration of Independence), Air and Space Museum, Washington Mall and the White House.

We ate hot dogs on the street! The boys thought that was pretty cool!

Since 911, this is the closest you can get to the White House with out an appointment made at least 6 mo. in advance.

Day 6

Here are the boys at the inner harbor in Baltimore. As we drove to Washington DC, we stopped in Baltimore for a few hours. Scott and the boys toured a WWII Submarine. It is a beautiful city to visit. We walked around and ate at a hamburger joint named after us:)

We then drove on to DC and went to Arlington Cemetary that afternoon. We walked through the beautifully kept lawns and saw the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and watched the changing of the guard.

That night we stayed outside of DC at a hotel. We had a great night sleep before our big day of walking. We think we walked about 4 miles our day in DC. Will post our DC pictures soon!

DAY 3-5

This is Micheal and Marcie Wallenmeyer who graciously hosted us for 2 1/2 days. Marcie was very hospitable. The kids (they have 3) played great and we enjoyed late night coffee and talking about life. After church on Sunday we relaxed and ate good food:) Monday they took us by train to Philidelphia. There we toured Independence Hall and saw the Liberty Bell and ate at Maggiono's (one of my favorites).

Day 5 we got up and met Scott's cousin Steve at a local Panara Bread. Then off to our see more friends, the Geshay's who live in Delaware. We spent the afternoon with them and had a great dinner with the family. I got to see Amy's new home which was so neat. I am so happy for her. We unfortunately were so busy having fun, we forgot to take any pictures. I am so bummed. Some of our evening is on Katie's blog. Check them out. We had a great time.

DAY 2

Our first day we spent the day at the Gettysburg battlefield. We had a little van trouble (long story) so we had to travel by foot that day. We were not able to see all of it. The battlefield is actually 24 miles square. We enjoyed dinner with my cousin Rich and his wonderful wife Kim and their son and girlfriend. They were so flexible and helped by taking Scott to get the van when it was fixed. God was truely before us that day and provided in so many ways. That night we headed to Marlton NJ to stay with our good friends from Moody, Micheal and Marcie.
The boys each had $ for spending money for the whole trip. All but Reis spent all thier money in the first gift shop we went to. They each bought a rifle from the civil war. Live and learn! They were sorry after they saw how many gift shops they would visit!

Day 1

We started out Friday with an 8 hour trip. "I" thought it would be a good idea to leave really early so the boys would go back to sleep and get a couple of hours out of the way driving. We left at 5 am. they all stayed awake....I went back to sleep. Oh well, they were excited. We stayed the night in a hotel (big deal for us:) near Gettysburg Pa.

Davis' BIG Day!

I have had some issues getting time on Scott's laptop to post some of our vacation. So you'll have to wait longer on those:) But I wanted to let you know about some big changes in little Davis' life. That's right, we said goodbye to his "robbies" on Monday. He cried of course. Actually it was one of the saddest things to see. BIG tears as he burried his head in his hands and pillow saying "my robbies". Not sure how he came up with that name but it stuck. Day 2 was a breeze, he hasn't asked for them since!
Since he didn't sleep in a crib all of vacation, we thought it was a good time to do away with his baby bed as well. We had tried this early this year but found him wandering in the night around the house...half asleep. But so far he has stayed in his "big boy bed" each night.

As if that wasn't enough all in a days time, we decided to see if we could potty train. After sitting every 30-45 min. all day he finally went right after his nap. I am not sure he is ready, today when he had his diaper off, he went on the carpet and didn't even know he was doing it:)

Vacation

Tomorrow morning we leave for probably the biggest family vacation of our married life. We'll be gone for 2 weeks total. We are visiting friends and family along the way but are headed out to Washington DC, Philidelphia and down to Williamsburg, Va. Yes, quite the road trip I know. I think we're ready! We are all so excited. We've been saving our pennies and planning our days since last fall and can't believe it is finally here. I am not sure if I'll do much posting. Maybe a hello or two. Pray for us!
